North
Carolina's High Country is an excellent destination for your
next motorcoach tour. Not only do we offer some of the
most beautiful scenery on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but we also
offer some "monumental" attractions including the
second oldest river in the world, the highest peak
in the Blue Ridge and the deepest gorge east of the
Mississippi.
Located
in the northwestern corner of the state, the High Country
has the highest average land elevation in the eastern United
States. An abundance of Southern sunshine and lush vegetation
creates a virtual paradise for our visitors. Temperatures
in the High Country are usually 10 to 15 degrees cooler than
the flatlands, making it the perfect destination for summer
vacationers and skiers alike.
To complement
our natural beauty, your sojourn is guaranteed to be filled
with interesting stops and real mountain experiences--we're
not a one horse town, there is enough to keep our visitors
busy for weeks on end! Our area offers legendary attractions
like Grandfather Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad, upscale shopping,
traditional music, fine arts, and some of the most photographed
spots on the Blue Ridge.
The High
Country area is easy to get to because it's bordered by Interstate
40 to the south, I-81 to the west, and I-77 to the east. We
think you'll find the widening of Highways 321, 221 and 421
will make your client's journey to the High Country much easier
and will perhaps open up a whole new experience for your clientele.
