A Dining Destination

With over 20% of all of the certifed chefs in North Carolina working in the High Country, you're sure to sample some amazing cuisine in the mountains. The High Country has become a dining destination, offering everything from country vittles to high gourmet.

In the High Country, you'll find traditional home-cooking restaurants that feature some of the best country cooking in the south. From fried chicken to chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, cornbread and biscuits, our folks know how to put on a country spread.

The area also offers some fantastic family restaurants. From local signature sandwiches and salads to cafeterias, burgers and everything in between, there is a great selection of local family fare.

For more sophisticated tastes, there are many options for fine dining. From French to fusion cuisine, Appalachian signature dishes to European gourmet, the plethora of certified, inventive chefs in the High Country is evident in the creative, exquisite dishes from the first to the last course.

The High Country is also home to several festivals including "Salute to High Country Chefs" in April, an excellent way to sample the chefs' signature dishes and raise money for worthy causes.
